Who we are
TNX Advisory is a trading name of Tenex Search Limited, registered in England and Wales, company no. 13987063. Registered office: 170 Piccadilly, London W1J 9EJ. TNX Advisory is part of the Tenex group, alongside Tenex Search. For the personal data described here, Tenex Search Limited is the controller. Contact us at d.teasdale@tenexsearch.com or by post at the registered office above.
What we collect, and where it comes from
- From you: your name, role, firm, email address and anything you tell us when you request a briefing, sign up for the market report, or correspond with us.
- From public professional sources (Article 14 UK GDPR): business contact details and career history of law-firm partners and leaders, taken from firm websites, the legal press, law-firm directories, Companies House and LinkedIn. We use this to understand the partner market and to contact people about our services.
- From clients: during an engagement, a client firm may share information about its partners and staff. This is handled under our engagement letter, kept in a restricted engagement workspace and never added to Tenex Search's records or shared with Tenex Search consultants.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to enquiries and provide our services: performance of a contract, or steps before one.
- To send the Global Partner Market Report: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the link in every email.
- To research the partner market, maintain our records of partner moves, and contact senior people at law firms about our services: our legitimate interests in running a professional advisory business. We are finalising our assessment of these interests against your rights.
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations: legal obligation.
Who we share it with
Other Tenex group companies where needed to provide a service you asked for, and service providers who host our website, forms, email and files under contract (currently Netlify for the website and forms, and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for email and files). We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Some of these providers process data in the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Agreement, or on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, so that your data has equivalent protection.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement: two years from our last contact.
- Market report subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Market research data from public sources: reviewed every year, and deleted once it is no longer accurate or needed, and in any case within six years of last update.
- Client engagement records: six years after the engagement ends.
Your rights
You have the right to be informed; of access to your data; to rectification; to erasure; to restrict processing; to data portability; to object, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing; and rights about automated decision-making (we do not make decisions about you by automated means). Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Write to d.teasdale@tenexsearch.com to use any of these rights. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
